On this muggy morning our group of six tallied 36 species plus swallows seen
too far away to id and two empidonax.
We enjoyed good looks at Baltimore orioles, a jay feeding three fledgings, two
pileated woodpeckers drinking
from the last puddle of a dry steam, acrobatic great crested flycatchers and a
trio of red-shouldered hawks.
Vultures were out in full force on the rocky river bank beyond the third
outlook and later in a kettle.
This Sunday walk meets at 8:00am near the visitors center courtyard and all are
welcome to join us. -- Marshall
