After three trips, I finally got a couple photos of the Harris' sparrow, one
of which is posted on our website. After arriving on the first trip, I
discovered I had left the tele-converters at home, which seemed absolutely
essential to maybe getting a photo. An hour later I was photographing him
with a 2x on the 400mm and the results were still fit for the trash can-too
far away for a quality photo.
This evening I returned with a blind and set up much closer to the feeding
area. Of the three shots I got, one has the head turned away, another one
caught him in mid-blink, and the third one is in shade except for his head.
Oh well, I've had fun, and there is always tomorrow..
I also photographed a number of other species while waiting. Of those, a
few brown thrasher photos were also added to the website.
