I swung into Harrison Lake on the way home yesterday and as soon as I
turned toward the ponds, caught a pair of young pileated playing in the
big tree on the corner. They were very large birds and would go up and
down the trunk, fly to the ground, jump on the tree and move around the
branches. They couldn't have fledged too long ago and it was fun to
watch them exploring a new world. I sat and watched them for more than
30 minutes and they stayed in that area the whole time. Also sighted
were a pair of summer tanangers, Canada goose with young, red tailed
hawks, swallows, bluebirds, and sparrows.
Some pics of the pileateds are

It's a beauty of a day...enjoy it!
