Observation start time: 08:30:00
Observation end   time: 16:45:00
Total observation time: 8.25 hours

Official Counter:        Mitch Mitchell

Observers:        Baron Gibson, Bill James, Darryl Martin, phillip ferguson

Visitors:
Hikers, bikers and plenty of car traffic on the parkway today.  Alan A.
prepared hot chocolate and coffee for the group including a few of the
through hikers and bikers that stopped for a break.  Ranger Amy also
stopped in and chatted for a while and even spotted one of the first
broadwings on the day.

Weather:
Temperature at the start of watch was 19c, rose to 25c by the ten o'clock
hour but then dropped back to 18 by noon and then up to 24 by the end of
watch.  Sunny, cloudless skies to start but clouds steadily increased to
about 75% by the end of the day.  Wind was a steady 2 through the two
o'clock hour, dropped to a 1 in the last two hours.  Visibility remained a
5 throughout the watch.

Raptor Observations:
First bird was an osprey at 9:00 and not much activity for the first
several hours.  In the noon hour there was a flurry of broadwings coming
through and the last birds of the day were observed in the one o'clock
hour.  Two bald eagles, an adult and immature together at 12:57.

Non-raptor Observations:
The usual TV/BV activity, two pileated woodpeckers, swifts, and few other
small birds.  Most raptors were observed over the knob with the majority
very high up and difficult to spot against the clear blue. Plenty of help
today with Alan, John Slaughter, Christine, and Don Aldridge all lending
their eyes.

Predictions:
More of the same, possibly a little warmer.
