There were 14 birders on this morning's Huntley Meadows Monday Morning
Birdwalk. It was a perfect birding day with temperatures in the 60s, a clear
to partly cloudy sky, and a slight breeze. We tallied 44 species. Highlights
include one Canada Goose flying through the park. Regular readers of this
posting are aware of the abrupt absence of any Canada Geese at Huntley for the
past 2 months. As has become our custom, new members of the group are asked to
count specific species found in great numbers. This morning, Marla counted our
Barn Swallows and came up with 41. Thank you, Marla. The season's first
Greater Yellowlegs was spotted on the mudflats in the central wetland. The
immature Little Blue Heron reported for the past several days was not around
when we walked, but we will keep watching for him.
