With only 5 birders on today's Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk, our
species totals were pretty dismal. We were only able to tally 23 species. The
highlight was the Monday Morning Group's first Green-winged Teals of the
season. Six female Teals were spotted in the Central Wetlands. It was pretty
dark at 7 this morning, so I'm going to initiate our 8 AM start time a bit
early this year. Starting on next week's walk, we will step off at 8. I know,
I know, Standard Time begins in 2 weeks, but I think we may be missing many
birds normally found near the beginning of the boardwalk by passing that area
so early. So, 8AM it is beginning next week.
