Please forgive the slight tardiness in reporting the results of the Huntley
Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk. We were able to spot 44 species on a warm,
partly cloudy late winter/early spring morning. There wre 20 birders on the
walk. Our highlights were two Virginia Rails seen and heard in the central
loop of the boardwalk, Wood Ducks exploring nesting boxes, a estimated flock
100 or more American Robins in the woods. The flowers on the Red Maples lining
the central wetland made a beautiful backdrop to the morning walk. The walk
will resume its customary 7 AM start time on April 2.
