Today's Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk attracted 17 birders who
spotted 44 species. The severely reduced open water area in the central
wetland has altered the speces which ordinarily gather there. Several species
of shorebird were counted, but no Canada Geese, Mallards, or Great Egrets were
seen. As has been reported recently by others, we spotted several species of
warbler. American Redstart, Yellow Warbler, Black & White joined the Common
Yellowthroat on today's list. A Yellow-throated Vireo and a Least Flycatcher
were two somewhat unusual sightings for this group.
