You can tell that Spring is not too far away when you join the Huntley Meadows
Monday Morning Birdwalk these days. Trees are flowering, some of the lower
plants are greening, and many birds are pairing up. Wood Ducks and Mergansers
are scouting out nesting boxes and the male Bluebirds have molted into
brilliant plumage. There were 19 birders on this morning's walk. We spotted
39 species, with a molting Winter Wren being one of the most interesting
sightings. Please be advised that the Monday Morning Birdwalk will adopt its
summer hours on April 1. From then until November, the walk will begin at 7
AM.
