Today's Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk drew over 25 birders on a cool,
cloudy day. We spotted only 33 species, with highlights including a couple of
Bald Eagles including one prominently perched in a tree on the edge of the
construction site, and a Great Egret having a hard time swallowing an
uncooperative Garter snake. Snakes were on the menu for a Green Heron as well,
but this one was easier. While fall warbler migration seems to be gearing up
judging from other VA Bird Listserv reports, we couldn't spot any this morning.

The Monday Morning Birdwalk has been a weekly event at Huntley Meadows since
1985. It takes place every week, rain or shine, at 7AM (8AM from November
through March), is free of charge, requires no reservation, and is open to all.
Birders meet in the parking lot at the Park's entrance at 3701 Lockheed Blvd,
