Nearly all of today's 14 Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk birders got
good views of the two Red-headed Woodpeckers foraging among the tree tops near
the northern end of the boardwalk. These two represented our top highlight of
the walk, with a Northern Waterthrush and a Palm Warbler coming in second. The
dozen or so Common Yellowthroat warblers we spotted were a particular delight
as they were all so bright and freshly molted, compared to one very scruffy
Eastern Bluebird apparently just beginning its molt. Construction on the
wetland renovation project continues, and, we are told, is near completion. A
review of the plans for this renovation suggests that we will may have a slight
change to out traditional Monday Morning walk, with a new section of path over
the water control structure to be explored. Those interested in the plans for

The Monday Morning Birdwalk has been a weekly event at Huntley Meadows since
1985. It takes place every week, rain or shine, at 7AM (8AM from November
through March), is free of charge, requires no reservation, and is open to all.
Birders meet in the parking lot at the Park's entrance at 3701 Lockheed Blvd,
