(Please forgive the delay in this posting - it was a particularly busy day
yesterday). It was a cold, bright morning yesterday when over 25 birders
gathered for the Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk. We spotted 52
species with a few FOS sightings. Of particular interest, however, was the
abundance of waterfowl. There were 14 species of duck and geese combined with
American Coots and Pied billed Grebe for a total of 16. Of this collection our
FOS Blue-winged Teal stood out. Other FOS birds included Tree Swallows and
Northern Rough-winged Swallows, and our first Pine Warblers. Birders who might
wish to join us on Mondays should be advised that our start time will revert to
'summer' hours - 7AM - starting next week on the 31st of March.
