Today's cold and frosty weather could not deter our stalwart birders, as 30
showed up in the dark for the Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk. We
tallied 52 species with several unusual species: our bird of the day was a
Common Raven, seen and heard. Other birds uncommon to Huntley included a small
group of Lincoln Sparrows, three blackpoll Warblers, and one Red-breasted
Nuthatch. Some editing scenes included a Coopers Hawk pursuing a small group
of Belted Kingfishers just off the surface of the central wetland. It was
cold, bright and invigorating! Birders are reminded that our starting hour
will be at 8AM beginning on November 5
