Monday's Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk report cited the Virginia Rail
family reported by many others as well. I said that I would check Huntley
records for any previous occurrence of breeding Virginia Rails in the Park.
According to records that date back to the early 1980s, this is the first
sighting of breeding Virginia Rails at Huntley Meadows.
The Monday Morning birdwalk has been a weekly event at Huntley Meadows since
1985. It takes place every week, rain or shine, at 7 AM, is free of charge,
requires no reservation, and is open to all. Birders meet in the parking lot
at the Park's entrance at 3701 Lockheed Blvd, Alexandria, VA. For questions
