Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end   time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter:        Anna Stunkel

Observers:        Harry Armistead

Weather:
Winds were calm to light, starting out generally from the southwest and
becoming more southeasterly later in the afternoon. Skies were partly
cloudy to mostly clear, and there was a brief but intense rain shower in
the afternoon. Overall, it was swelteringly hot and humid, with
temperatures mostly in the mid to high eighties (but a "real feel" about
ten degrees higher).

Raptor Observations:
Very slow. Things picked up a tiny bit when the wind shifted to southeast
in the afternoon. It was nice to see the first Merlin of the season just
after the rain shower ended.

Non-raptor Observations:
A few Barn Swallows and Purple Martins were on the move, but there were not
many Bobolinks or Eastern Kingbirds today. A Black-and-Yellow Garden Spider
was hanging out high in a pine, silhouetted in her web against the blue
sky. Other sightings included:

25 American Black Ducks (plus a few possible Mallard x black duck hybrids)
17 Killdeer
4 Red-headed Woodpeckers
1 Great Crested Flycatcher
1 Veery
1 Yellow-throated Warbler (seen by Roberta Kellam)
