Leesylvania State Park was kind of quiet the last two days. Yesterday the only
warblers I could find were yellow, yellow-throated and pine (juvenile), all
likely local breeders. There was a bit more action this morning. An adult
male black-throated blue was at the beach at Freestone Point, yellow and parula
were on the hillside near the ruins, and prothonotary (juvie) and northern
waterthrush were at the boardwalk. Also of note today were a LOT of baltimore
orioles. One loose flock on the hill near the ruins contained over a dozen
birds, including 2 orchards. Orioles were present everywhere I stopped. I
also saw a Traill’s-type flycatcher, white-eyed vireo, summer tanager, and
scarlet tanager in the vicinity of the boardwalk.
