An almost-complete roster of regular winter visitors was at Leesylvania State
Park in Woodbridge this morning. These include pine siskin, purple finch,
hermit thrush, winter wren, brown creeper, yellow-bellied sapsucker, both
kinglets, yellow-rumped warbler, and junco. A blue-headed vireo was a reminder
that a few neo-trops are still southbound. Other items of interest were a
calling barred owl near the maintenance yard and a couple of hundred laughing
gulls on the breakwater.
