Ponds in Albemarle County are astonishingly low and the whole county
has a parched, scorched appearance. I feel like we've been through a
long, hard dry season and are waiting for the rains, that may or may
not come. Taking advantage of the shrinking water levels are an
influx of egrets. This morning I saw an all white Little Blue Heron
(quite unusual bird for this county) at a privately owned pond and
one Great Egret. At another pond, there were four Great Egrets. Also
saw a Northern Waterthrush beside one of the ponds. Stauffer Miller
