Lots of action at the Rockfish River Trail on Friday: I easily had 31 species
in a little over an hour and a half in the heat of the afternoon. Nothing too
exciting but lots of action. The first BLUE_GRAY GNATCATCHERs i've seen all
year, fall ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKs, 2 herons sp., and a SHARPY making a kill
while I watched were the highlights.
I also learned that the electric fence is not TOO painful if you touch it by
accident. Good to know.
This morning (Sat.) we had waves of songbirds in the Horseshoe Mtn area,
including MAGNOLIA WARBLERs, BLACK-THROATED GREENs, ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK, and
a NORTHERN PARULA amongst the usual T/N/C (Titmouse/Nuthatch/Chickadee) crews.
