For those familiar with Newport News Park, the swamp bridge was particularly
busy this morning. About 9 AM after a brief sprinkle, the birds came out in
force. It was nice to find three pied-billed grebes and two American Black
ducks. Complete list below.
Other wildlife included many tiger swallowtails, a water moccasin, and two
young raccoons. The raccoons were playing along the water edge, and then
settled into a hallowed out tree for their sleep.
