I went to Huntley Meadows right around 6 a.m. this morning and met up with
Ed Eder at the observation platform around 6:30 or so. We did not find the
Anhinga (sighted yesterday afternoon) in the main impoundment and environs.
(Ed went last evening and he did not find it then, either.) We took the
informal trail off the boardwalk and hit 2 or 3 pools that could have been
likely spots further downstream but to no avail. It was a lovely morning,
however, and the brisk walk was much better than my normal half hour on an
elliptical trainer in front of the TV. There were at least a dozen Great
Egrets and 4 Green Herons, 2 Muskrats and a Raccoon, and many other
beautiful things of nature to see.
