If you’re seeking an escape to higher altitudes and cooler temps, the Pocosin
Cabin area might be productive. On Sunday 7/25, mid-morning through early
afternoon, William Leigh and I found a nice variety of warblers including: A.
Redstart, Hooded, Cerulean, Black & White, Blackburnian, Canada,
Chestnut-sided,
and Worm-eating. While most species were seen along the trip, these eight
wowed us with an amazing noon-time grand finale, each one present and LOW at
the
spring behind the cabin. What a treat! Other species heard or seen included
Red-eyed Vireo, Veery, Acadian Flycatcher, Wood Thrush and Scarlet Tanager. -
