Hello all
This morning I ventured out to the Swoope area before it got to hot to check
on the Dickcissel's along Cattleman Rd. I went thru there on Augusta 1st
late in the evening & found a rather ragged male in heavy molt on that day .
Well this morning I found 3 adults in basic winter plumage & one molting
female adult feeding a recent fledged young who still had a couple of pin
feathers sticking up from its head . While watching the feeding two more
young flew up near the adult begging for food . This makes a late breeding
record for our area as well as a peak count of 7 Dickcissel's . Also the
fourth & early fall date , plus the fifth fall record with peak fall counts
. Also I observed a female Red - winged feed a fledged young ( late breeding
record )
Over on Smith's pond there was a good selection of Shorebirds .
