Members of the Roanoke Valley Bird Club manned two circles at our house in
Burnt Chimney on Sunday. We had a paltry 26 species, with the best being
great horned owl, junco, and yellow-bellied sapsucker. It's too bad we
couldn't count the best bird of the day, but it was outside the circles down
at our farm pond. That was a cerulean warbler, the first ever for our
property. The lists for both circles have been posted on the BirdWatcher's
Digest website at
http://www.birdwatchersdigest.com/site/funbirds/bigsit/results08/circles.php
.. If you want to take a look, our circles are called Burnt Chimney Swifts
and Wirtz Whip-poor-wills.
