Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory will once again be participating in
the Big Sit, on October 9th, at the hawkwatch platform at Kiptopeke State Park.
For those who don't know about the event, more than 100 "circles" of 17 foot
diameter, across North America and a few in Europe, will be recording all
species of birds seen from the circle throughout the day. The more people on
hand to find birds, the better. Everyone is invited and the event is free.
Our circle has consistently been in the top 10 in North America and this
year our goal is 80 species. We have come close to that several times, even
with
no cold front!
