The nest does look like House Sparrow and I think the new nest box is for
Great-crested Flycatcher which would not be in yet.

Subject: Blue bird trail photos
Here are some pics. The first and last ones are the nest in our front yard,
taken a few days apart. The second one is the mystery nest in box #1. Can anyone
identify? I'm fairly sure it's a house sparrow, but wanted to err on side of
caution.
The third pic is my husband in front of the brown box by the soccer
field that Phil added last year. He's pointing to the nail you use to lower the
box to check. I thought this might be helpful in case others have had a hard
time locating that box. Phil, can you refresh my memory re what bird it is for?
The fourth pic is Jackie the dog, cutest doggie east of the Mississippi (and
probably west too), at least in my opinion. Enjoy!
