On Wednesday (6/20), I arrived about 8:30pm at the roost trees and there was
a falcon on the Monroe Building. The friendly baker was outside on break
and told me that last Thursday he started seeing Martins and figured about
30-40 were coming in every evening. I saw some enter while we chatted and
when I walked under the trees it sounded like there could easily be a
hundred+ in there spread over 3 or 4 trees. I believe the Gone to the Birds
festival is 8/4 if someone is planning to see the birds this year. My
schedule will be unpredictable this summer, but if someone is planning to
come and lets me know I can try to be there. Not sure about the schedules
of other counters, but someone is usually there every evening. I plan to
put together a FAQ for directions from different parts of the state, but
those with computer access can google 17th St. Farmers' Market for a street
address.

Friday, June 22, 2012: Victoria Cooper and I were watering the new trees at
17th Farmers' Market this morning beginning at 6 am. Around 7:30 am, I heard
a familiar screech or begging cry of a young Peregrine Falcon. I looked up
at the James Monroe building, the tallest building west of 17th Street and
saw the adult and young falcon circling.the building. It was reassuring to
know that flight lessons were in progress!
