Several years ago I saw a male Ring-necked Pheasant fly across road in front of us on Route 231 just south of Gordonsville. Surprised. Used to see them in Western Maryland frequently.

I was driving south on Rt. 231 in Rappahannock County yesterday, very near the Madison County line, when I saw a male Ring-necked Pheasant standing at the edge of the highway. I assume someone has released a few from captivity in this area? Also, a little further south in Madison County I saw a Ruffed Grouse fly across the same highway. Stauffer Miller
