We saw one loose here in Hampton, during the last Christmas Bird count.
We assumed he was someone's pet that got loose.

backyard - any ideas of origin?
This is a late report, but placed here for the record and to seek any
information readers might have about its origin.
While I was on holiday in June, a neighbor sent me a photo of a 'strange
looking bird' that was crossing her lawn (in suburban Annandale, Fairfax
County). It was also seen on the same day by other neighbors, but no reports
since. The bird was a male Ring-necked Pheasant.
This bird must have escaped (or been released) from some hunting operation.
Does anyone have any ideas where it could have originated?
Thanks,
Stephen Eccles
