I had a solitary white throat yesterday; first saw him in the afternoon.
Welcome, little "yellow eye."  Always happy to see these seasonal  visitors.

This  morning I awoke to the 'peabody' refrain so well known to
attentive  birders. The thermometer read 26.9 degrees F.
Then, looking outside I  counted 6 of those sparrows, each one
competing for this brand of  first-of-the-season ground scratchers.
One would suppose that there is a  correlation established with temp
and timing, but which of the six get the  award?
Never mind,
