This morning I awoke to the 'peabody' refrain so well known to
attentive birders. The thermometer read 26.9 degrees F.
Then, looking outside I counted 6 of those sparrows, each one
competing for this brand of first-of-the-season ground scratchers.
One would suppose that there is a correlation established with temp
and timing, but which of the six get the award?
