I saw what I believe was a greater yellowlegs foraging in the marshy edges of
Lake Matoaka on the College of William and Mary campus. It was wading around in
the boggy forested area next to Compton Drive, which was easily visible from
the nature trail. I didn't have my binoculars with me so I'm not 100% sure on
the ID, but maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I know this isn't an
uncommon species, but it's the first that I've seen on campus in the 6 years
I've been living here.
