The Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk attracted 18 birders this morning.
We spotted 41 species on a cool, cloudy morning. Our highlights included 4
Sora calling to each other, and 3 Wilson's Snipe circleing the wetlands looking
for a dry place to land. Finding none, they left. Not surprisingly, there was
a great mob of Red-winged Blackbirds in the cattails around the boardwalk. We
were pleased to see a couple of Warbler species still hanging around, as well
as a growing population of Sparrows.

The Monday Morning Birdwalk has been a weekly event at Huntley Meadows since
1985. It takes place every week, rain or shine, at 7AM (8AM during December,
January and February), is free of charge, requires no reservation, and is open
to all. Birders meet in the parking lot at the Park's entrance at 3701 Lockheed
Blvd, Alexandria, VA. Questions should be directed to Park staff during normal
