Hi All,
I thought about this all day and have decided to write to the list just to air
my feelings about checking my email on a Saturday morning and finding that I
have received a message which was sent to me directly in response to an article
I sent out on the VIP list itself recently.
First can I say that I have no preference to any particular Operating systems
and no matter how much we like one kind of OS over another no one or nothing is
perfect and we all have our faults even our favourite operating systems. A
recent mail article which I sent out to this list was just something I came
across and thought it might have been interesting for a read and nothing more.
I personally have no particular favourite OS and really wasn't into how much
better the original author of the article could have done their homework in
relation to this item. What I have an issue with is that apparently someone on
the list saw fit to pass along the article which ultimately ended up landing
on the computer of an I.T professional. I in turn have received a lecture on
all that was wrong with this article which I didn't need as I have more going
on in my life than dealing with this kind of thing. Bottom line here is that it
seems a pity that someone who may be on this list felt it necessary to pass
this item along where it has now been perceived in such a way that it has
caused bad feelings. For myself there is a sense of disappointment in that
what we do on this list gets passed around in such a manner that it looks like
we are OS bashing and that we are causing the profit margin of a particular I.T
corporation to be damaged in some way is not at all what we are about.
I feel that while the article was authored by someone else who himself has
quite a base of respect built up in the blind I.T community, I am the one that
received the lash out which as I said I didn't need.
The person who passed on this article knows who he or she is and I hope that
you are happy with your day's work. is all I can say.
