I tried it last night (on a message to myself, from my PC to iPhone; but no
message ever came back.)
Paid service, I guess. Yet in other developed countries, it's possible to do
it for free.

There *is* after all, a way to send the email by text to her, to avoid major
disappointment.
To do this, follow Cearbhall's insturctions regarding forwarding the email;
and, in the To field, type +353 your spouse's mobile number followed by
@sms.iflow.net . (All unspaced.)
There are, it seems, a few services that specialise in this sort of thing.
So, try it. It'll be a major victory if you succeed!

She does have an email address (at least from which the email was sent,
however obscure it may be).
If you try to reply to the message, where does it want to go? (You could
find that out by hitting Reply and then reading down a few lines. You can
Escape again if you don't want to actually reply.)
With JAWS on the PC, there is a way that usually works, or one through which
the email address can be deduced (or 'redacted').
So with JAWS running on the computer, you enter the message whose originator
you want to find, and then press the keys alt+1 twice. That'll give you the
original contact's address (or the string which includes the original
contact's address within it).
