An older model, HP Deskjet 845c. (I understood that the ink is also known as toner, but that the cartridges are always known as cartridges!)

If you're feeling brave, then take out the colour cartridge(s), or have someone else do it; and give them a good shake, rattle and roll, (without spilling)! You would then unclog them, at least temporarily

I have an ink printer, which we needed to re-cartridge in recent times.

hi flor,

no, sorry, it's not a laser printer we have it's just an ink cartridge printer. sorry I misled you, I just mailed the list as we were thinking of going down the road of getting a laser printer. but maybe the same applies if I was just to give the cartridges a shake now and again.

Hi Susan,

I was told recently (when changing them) that a cartridge will dry or clog up eventually if it is not used, or not used often enough. You can remedy this to an extent by taking it out and giving it 'a good shake', and hou should feel the toner sloshing around, before returning it to the printer.

hi Dorothy,

yes, curries is very good with us also. the same thing is happening with me and getting lots of blank pages,. we have a lexmark printer and we gave them a ring this morning and they told us that the printer will not work unless you have the black and 2 colour cartridges, but we never ever use the colour cartridges. so they must be drying out or some thing, I do know that where we used to have the printer sitting was quite close to the radiator. so we moved it to the far side of the room however that room is always quite warm as the sun beams in all
day long. well that's when we get the sun.

many thanks

Susan

Hi Susan

Ah, I understand you need a photocopier as well as a printer.

I have been talking to our Kevin(my son) about the ink colours drying up and he said anything is possible. I got rid of mine because it sounded as though it was printing out perfectly but when Kevin came
in and told me I had loads of blank pages I was none too pleased.
The printer I have now prints all the time which is just the job.

As Eleanor said, Curries or PC World would be a good idea to try as I have found the staff in both Curries and PC World most helpful. They always let me have a look at whatever I am buying and explain how to use it. When I needed a new phone, they let me take the phone home and said if it was no good after a week I could take it back and they would change it for me as it was only by using it that I would know
whether it was right or not. Brilliant!!!

Hope you find the right printer soon.

Dorothy.
