hi eleanor,

your dog sounds very like my last guide dog but i loved that dog lots and lots joe has one of those labelers he got it given to him by some blind friend who no longer needed it as he married a sighted lady and done away with all his talking gear, i still would have held on to it if i was him and keep some sort of independence. it's a great thing wouldn't be without it now.

our lexmark is very big with lots of buttons on it, it's also wireless.

thanks and will talk soon.
susan

Fine thanks, it is not a lazer printer and has 2 cartridges. I got it as a freebee and loyal customer of BT, it is or was wireless which was great as it did not have to be plugged in to a computer. Then one day Neela was feeling particularly energetic and knocked it on to the floor as she rushed past it! Lol! Now the wi-fi no longer works so it has to be plugged in to the PC. Neela can be very active and went for 2 weeks to stay at Guide Dogs and in the evenings the Kennel Manager would take her to her home. She used to e-mail me every night to tell me about Neela and one night she did mot! Next day she told me Neela had managed to break her Rooter! My Cannon 2700 is the most aweful clunky printer and larger than the Lexmark but again 2 cartridges. I think its quality of printing may be better but I would not recommend it as I find it fiddley. At Christmas someone on a guide dog e-mail list told us about a Dymo Label Printer 450 which she purchased from Amazon. It works on the principle of heat and does not require cartridges. It was expensive at £74.99p and as yet I have not tried it out. It prints small labels which you would then put on an envelope etc.

I only change mine about once a year and that is not even a lazer one but
an ink jet.

Susan,

Think we change the ribbons about every few months (if we think about it)
to keep the ink from drying up.

Our printer is nearly as old as myself, smile, so guess the latest ones
are more in tune with the users needs or perhaps I'm missing something.

Good luck with it anyway.

hi tony,

a friend of mine has a h,p, photo shop printer and she only needs the 1
colour cartridge and the black cartridge for the printer to work. we
have to have 2 colours and the black for ours to work.

Hi Dorothy,

Re Susan's post I wonder Does your Samsung use two cartridges or would
it work with one?

My printer definitely needs two (coloured, black)
anyway, it is HP I think and I ever only use the one cartridge.

Hi Susan

I am using a Samsung ML1210 Lazor Printer which I find very useful as
I had problems with my Epson Printer. This one prints all the time
but it has no copier with it. I bought it from Staples.

Hope this helps.

Dorothy.
