Thanks, I didn't know this at all! I'll definitely keep it in mind for the future, though. I fiddled around with the document last night, and Mark fiddled w it some more today. We tried all kinds of stuff, with no luck, except for making the pages huge, as Mayrie suggested.. Until Mark suggested rerecognizing the pages with another scanner engine. I did this, and came out with the correct number of pages minus the extra page breaks, even after converting it and looking at it with Word. Now, unfortunately, it has a boatload of scanner junk characters which I feel compelled to take out, plus do other stuff, before resubmitting it to step one. Ah, technology! You can make the font in a Word document uniform by highlighting the entire document with a control a. Use you menu key and go to format. Arrow down to font. There you can choose font style, type and size. Tab over to okay and save the changes. That should eliminate many extra pages if the font sizes are different throughout the document. HTH Blessings. Ok, I'll try that. Incidentally, my husband, Mark, who is much more savvy with Word then I, is trying to help me with this. He discovered that the fonts are all mixed up, and that doesn't of course, show up when you're reading with K1000, unless you check. He actually checked when using Word, and some lines only had one or two words on them because of big fonts, etc. I'll try the paper size deal and see what happens. Try increasing the paper size even more. Use "custom" then you can put something huge like 22 in the page length in inches. I'll bet that fixes it. Good luck! That took the document from 553 pages down to 467 pages.. Any other suggestions? In /through all this, Kersi is still adament that the same document is 353 pages.
