Dear Valerie, Judy and Booksharian Friends,
Actually I like leaving in those blank lines. I was mainly trying to cooperate
and not make things harder on the approval end of things. Evan said the tools
would remove those blank lines and that the pages look more like paper books
which we both like at least while we’re working on them
Valerie, I know what you mean about those boxes and boxes of books. For me they
are a positive thing like the future promising and beckoning.
Always with love,
Lissi

Thanks for the quick reply, Judy! I am glad I am not the only one helped by
it, even if it is not necessary for others.
I am chasing my tail trying to still contact people and plan Doug’s memorial.
Life seems so empty now. I am hoping my boxes and boxes and shelving units
full of books distract me.

Hi Valerie,
Go ahead and leave them in, as they will get ignored by the Bookshare
converter. I do the same thing as you do, for the same reason. It's just that
they aren't needed any more, thank goodness.
Thinking about you and keeping you in our prayers!

Judy;
May we leave them in if it makes it easier to read and proof as a sighted
scanner/proofreader? I catch scans and my errors better with the “protections.”

Hi Lissi,
The short answer is that there is no need at all for those blank lines to
protect text or page numbers. smile.
The long answer is that this is covered in the proofreading manual, if
you need more detail.

Dear Booksharian Friends,
Way back, because we knew the Bookshare tools sometimes stripped things
from the tops and bottoms of pages, we always placed a blank line at the top
and bottom of every page. We also placed a blank line above and below every
page number. This is how we formatted a page number at the top of a page
page break enter
blank line enter
page number enter
blank line enter
text enter
after the last line of text blank line
page break
Here’s my question.
Do we still need to protect content this way? For example can we
dispense with the blank lines making the page look like this?
page number enter
text enter’'
page break
Thanks for helping me keep up with the times.
Always with love,
Lissi
