I really appreciate the generous offer, Larry, but no money in the budget for
shipping and I want to donate them locally since so many children here have no
books of their own. Also, most of them require a sighted scanner since they
have quirky fonts that do not scan well.

Valerie, I don’t do children’s books too well but if you have books you’d
like scanned and would send them and don’t want them returned, I’d be glad to
scan them.

Lissi;
Well, a certain number may be but in dismantling the old house we originally
ballparked the books in the house at 3,000. Now I realize it is in excess of
6,000. About 40% appear to be in the collection at this point, but the rest
will take me years and most of the younger children’s books must be done by a
sighted volunteer and often hand typed, so it is very slow going. Still, I
am almost 58, so I hope to have more than a few good years ahead of me for
adding them to the collection.

Valerie, I know what you mean about those boxes and boxes of books. For me
they are a positive thing like the future promising and beckoning.
