Dear Deborah,
I dont know of anything written by Bert in terms of weight however I can share
a little of my experience and understanding of inner weight in phenomenology. A
part of the family constellation paridigam of the past has been to hold the
impression that presence is all and that form does not matter. I feel these
beliefs take root in idealism and a blind love of that which guides us. As with
all blind love and loyalty it is usually a situation that remains out of order.
If something is out of order it has no weight because:
1. It is disconnected from earth and form, it is rootless.
2. The issue is secondary and not primary.
3. The movement is upwards and and not downwards first.
Weight, gravity and form ensure growth. Can there be growth honouring the
formless first? What is it that supports great weight? Is it not roots? The
deeper the roots the stronger the life that grows and the more weight that life
has.
The old paridigam that pushes presence and formlessness first also avoids
death, and in doing so paradoxically puts a movement of death before life
itself.
Saying form or weight is irrelevant is to say death is irrelevant to life.
Here death is not looked at or seen.
Wherever death is included there will be existential power and weight in
service of life.
I was reminded of this reading Bert here the other day when he said:
All that grows also dies and when it is finished it nourishes.
All of that has weight.

"weight"?
Hello Everyone: I'm looking for specific statements Bert Hellinger made about
the "weight" of the facilitator as a factor in constellations. When I trained,
I was taught that it's phenomenologically important not to assert more or less
weight as facilitator than one actually possesses - and that weight is affected
by factors such as age & life experience or by being a parent, as well as by
training and experience as a facilitator.
I find this an important and useful concept, but I wonder where it comes from.
Can anyone guide me to specific statements - either in English or German - from
