Very good... This work is all about trusting the field....those unknown
forces that show up to help out of love so that the Client and facilitator
can surrender to the healing power. All will be well even IF we cannot make
heads or tails of it. Some mysteries are better off NOT being understood
but allowed to have the desired healing affect even though we thought we'd
see Oranges but were given apples! I always do my best to allow and support
the mystery that leads o the deepest healing. Throwing ego
definition/comprehension out the window is always the best way to let the
full force do the work as we are guides to have a safe container for it to
reveal itself ALWAYS for the good of the client.

These constellations were all done blind and I was not the facilitator but
all the participants were clients of mine. I just noticed the "bullying"
response was common to all three symptoms and was curious what others have
seen. Bullying could be seen as predator energy or rejection or
suppression. I understand that the situations can all be coming from very
different responses in the family system, i.e., a rejected family member, a
missing member, emotional reactions that are stuck, etc. I was simply aware
that in these three cases the symptom had very similar responses. The
outcomes of these three are interesting. The depression deflated and wanted
to leave as soon as anger was expressed by the client. The phobia became
very confused and painfully helpless when the client refused to submit to
the demands that she should leave and the weight became extremely inflated
and demeaning of the client as soon as the client (representative)
implusively ate a piece of gum. Even tho ugh the weight had its back to her
and didn't know what she was doing, the shift to derisive attitude was swift
and sure.

reaction too literally... Who was excluded? Who does the symptom really
represent? Did you ask the client what that dynamic reminded he or she of? A
father? A mother? What did the representatives feel was going on? I
personally work blindly so NO STORY gets in the way of or is tried to be
recreated by the ego interpretation of the representative or the clients
conscious belief etc... More questions than answers but I hope it helps....
Was the Bullying person role shifted into the Client desire to reject the
symptom? Remember to embrace every part of the work not just the good stuff
but love the (perceived) bad equally.

Has anyone had experience setting up a person and their weight, depression
or phobia? I have seen three such constellations and in each case the
"symptom" was bullying and wanted the person to leave. In one case, the
weight actually threw the person out of the house. I am curious what other's
have seen with these types of constellations. I feel embarrassed to say I
don't understand the dynamic even though I feel it is somewhat obvious but I
just can't get it.

My interest in the topic comes in the response to the incredulity that
confronts facilitators in attracting new participants to our circles. When
we attempt to introduce the process to the uninitiated, there comes a moment
when the person considers how it is that a complete stranger can shed light
and insight onto a longstanding issue. A typical example is a distressed
woman in her 40s who had a "bad mother." She is an ideal candidate to join a
Constellation group. It is unfathomable to her that someone, just anyone,
standing in for her mother, not role playing, not informed of the story, is
going to attune with her mother's secrets and thus provide the relief and
release that years of therapy, yoga, meditation, spiritual practice, Reiki,
etc., etc., have failed to find. You can read it her face before she
politely declines the invitation saying, "That's sounds very interesting.
I'd love to hear more about it sometime."
Enter mirror neurons. There are a host of cutting edge scientific theories
and discoveries that provide some scant evidence that the affinity felt by
the representatives for those they represent is not mere theatrics or
projection. These include Sheldrake's Morphic fields, mirror neurons, the
Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) Effect, Bell's Theorem, and others. All so we
can say, "This is not as bizarre and fantastic as it sounds to our
conventional thinking."
The limitation is in the reach of the scientific method. To study and
understand and particular phenomenon scientifically, it is necessary to
control variables and capture clean data. Mirror neurons have only been
found in monkey brains. According to Altman (The Knowing Field 8, p. 22), in
human brains, "the neurons wouldn't look like anything special; they
wouldn't be any different from other neurons in the cortex. What makes them
different is the particular combination of inputs they receive and where
their outputs go."
The phenomenological lens that we use as Constellation facilitators does not
capture data that can be seen through the neurophysiologist's CAT scan
machine or the quantum physicist's particle accelerator. It may not be
impossible to design an experiment to integrate these perspectives, but good
luck getting it funded, executed, or accepted by the mainstream scientific
community.
We can point towards mirror neurons to say, "What occurs in a Constellation
does not necessarily conflict with current understanding of brain function."
We can attest that the warm-hearted phone call from the long-estranged
brother coming on the heels of the Constellation need not be coincidence or
supernatural woo-woo; it's the EPR effect. However, we need to be cautious
about representing that science confirms these experiences. As Altman puts
it, "It is this sort of area when I see scientific facts getting bent."
This is a rich topic for discussion. I'm interested in how others approach
it.
