Dear Chris,
I wish to join all the facilitators who wrote to thank you! Though I am a
reader, not so much a writer, I really appreciate the quality time you put in
this forum, in order to offer us such a creative space for exploration,
respectful sharing and profound insights.
Though many of my students don't understand English, I've encouraged them to
join the group and be a part of this great adventure for I have found so much
inspiration and knowledge throughout the years. Reading the, sometimes,
contradictory postings has kept my mind open and I'm thankful for your work in
offering, as much as possible, posts from people with varied views. I've
integrated the reality of our work which is phenomenological !
At first I felt a bit overwhelmed, not so much by the numbers of posts, but by
the quality of the insights. I had, and still have, the impression I didn't
have anything more to share than what had been said. So I read....! And I use
this in my work and my teaching. I've accepted the idea that many of you know
more and have more experience than me....and that I know more and have more
experience than my students and participants. So I've made peace with the fact
I never write in this group.
Over the years I've grouped the gathered posts by subject, in 8 word documents
of many pages each. And I go through them bit by bit. What a richness!!!
So all my thanks to those who write and share, to those who work hard so that
this wonderful approach may be known.
I bow down with much gratitude to you Chris!!!

Subject: [ConstellationTalk] TENTH ANNIVERSARY WHOOPEE!!! 861 members :-)
Hi all
We have now reached the tenth anniversary of Constellation Talk. I thought
it was a good opportunity to begin a reflection on where we have come from,
how we are doing and where we are going.
The very first message of this group was posted on February 15 2003,when
the group was started by me for people in Australia and New Zealand. It was
a natural place for such a group to start. We here in the south are so far
away from everyone else in our vast sparsely populated island continent of
Australia with the distant islands of New Zealand. We here are also very
long distances away from each other. So this group was designed to help us
to overcome this geographical isolation.
Somehow by the end of April 2003 the group transmogrified into an
international group. Over the years this group has been through a number of
distinct phases of development as it has gotten bigger and as we have had
to navigate our way through various controversies. We seem to have matured
in a good way through these processes. I have done my best as group founder
and moderator to shepherd it through. I have tried to maintain a culture of
transparency and openness to different viewpoints whilst supporting
respectful communication and severely limiting the use of this group for
the purposes of promotions or advertising. Sometimes some people have been
very unhappy with me but generally people seem quite happy and if voting
with your feet counts we now have 861 members from all around the globe.
Even with the advent of a number of constellation face book pages and
blogs, this group still remains strong. Nonetheless I don't expect it to
last forever. It will last as long as people find it helpful in a way that
works better than other alternatives. When it is meant to finish it will.
Meanwhile it still seems to be quite vibrant and lively. Any comments about
this -positive or negative or any suggestions for improvement are welcome.
If suggestions are made I would appreciate if people would consider how
easy they might be to implement and how much work might be involved. Also
it is worthwhile considering if you support the culture created here and to
consider the impact your suggestions may have on that as well.
I am looking forward to some interesting responses on our tenth anniversary
Cheers
and
Hasta la vista
