Hi, Karen,
The German word 'Aufstellung' has not got a really great translation into
English, because most people immediately think of the night sky when they hear
the English word! The term 'Constellation', which is actually used in all the
English literature on the subject that I have read so far, is just one that
comes closest.
The German word means literally 'set-up", but since this has a double meaning
in English is it is better explained via the verb 'aufstellen', which it
derived from. And that means setting an object into a position.
Hope that it is a satisfying explanation.....
Best wishes to all

Subject: [ConstellationTalk] Re: Root of the word "constellation"?
Hello,
The original word of this work in German is "Aufstellung " which means
"placement, assembly. " The word "constellation" appears in very few German's
books and, I would say, that's happening more in recent books, normally
translated from other languages such as French. In French, Spanish, Italian and
Portuguese always used the word "constellation", because "placement" do not
have a visual connotation as "constellation", I suppose. How did this happen? I
do not know, but I´m curious too.

Hello,
I'm curious about how the term "constellation" came to be attached this
work. I have been told that the term Constellation is somewhat problematic
as it was translated into English from the German. Since I don't speak
German, I'd like to know the origins. Much thanks to anyone who can provide
information.
