Dear Friends
Thank you for this thread.
Sometimes in life we do something before we understand why we are doing it. We
could take a similar view with the word 'Constellations'. Like others, I say
the word 'Constellations' is a metaphor, and "Constellations" are a nice way of
talking about the patterns and images of a system, of a family of stars.
But we can take this further. We came from the stars. So maybe we are just
acknowledging our ancestors. And if we keep going back. We all have the same
ancestors. My ancestors are the same as the computer I am typing on. So I have
a link to my computer, through our shared ancestors and events. This is also a
practical link to the ideas and research of the Quantum Physicists, and the Big
Bang and the Big Crunch and so on.
I have started to think that the word Systemic is also a very useful
description of our work, because as we work more in this field, the field seems
to enlarge, and we get more in touch with the bigger System. In a way, 'Family
Constellations' are just a door into the bigger System, and an invitation to
understand more about the bigger System and how the bigger System effects the
client in front of us. This is Oneness, I guess.
This prompts the question, what is the purpose of Family Constellations? We
could slightly alter that question and say; what is the System's purpose for
Family Constellations? If we say there is a purpose to Family Constellations,
and as we are connected to the bigger System, then the bigger System must have
a purpose for Family Constellations as well, possibly multiple purposes. There
is still so much we do not understand in Constellations and yet sometimes we
take the posture that we do understand, or we understand to a certain level.
One of the purposes of Constellations could be to reach some new knowledge.
This is what Bert Hellinger has given us, new understanding.
It is quite interesting to consider Constellations in layers. Sometimes a
resolution seems to come quite easily, maybe an interaction with a dead
sibling. But I wonder when clients come back for more, that they are searching
for a deeper meaning, and the System is giving us another opportunity to learn,
an to understand something more. I think we also tend to say that it is best to
not try and understand a Constellation, just let your soul take it in. Where
does this attitude come from? I use it too. I know that some of the most
amazing transformations have come from clients where no one really understand a
Constellation, or at least the client did not. But what are we excluding here?
What would happen if we were able to understand more? If we exclude
understanding then surely we are in a duality. If we allow understanding its
place, we honour the intention of Constellations, of inclusion, of singularity.
Often participants have headaches in workshops. I sometimes invite participants
to try and take the Constellation in more through their body, if they want, and
then they tend to say that their headache fades. Now I try not to do this.
Another way of looking at these headaches is that there is some knowledge
waiting to be revealed, that the System is sending us.
Thanks to all for their Contributions. For writing and reading.
