Hello, Steve,

See if you can get a copy of Windows7. If you fail, contact us as we have
bought up a small pile of Windows7 licenses. I urge you to do so because
CakeTalking 8.8 will not run on any Windows version post Windows7.

You'll need to upgrade your JAWS as JAWS 9 will not run under Windows7 as far
as I know.

See http://www.dancingdots.com/prodesc/CakeTalkingOrdering.htm for current
pricing on upgrades from SONAR 7 and CakeTalking 7.

Get a PC with a minimum of 4 gigs of RAM but 8 preferable.

You probably already have an audio interface you like, right? Otherwise, you
can probably find one of the Roland Quad-Capture or one of the Saffire
interfaces that some of our subscribers like a lot.

If you want to chat, call us at +1 610 783 6692. I do not know any builders of
DAW's (digital audio workstation PC's) in the UK. We have had our supplier,
ADK, build some DAW's for people in western Europe. But if you find someone in
your country who can do a good job, you save all of that additional shipping
expense.

Hi all at DD,
I'm currently using Sonar 7.2 with Jaws 9, CT scrips, on a XP laptop. Now
you've stopped laughing, :) here is my questions.
What computer spec do you recommend and what version of Jaws to compliment your
products offer?
I've been thinking about upgrading my system for quite a while now.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Chris. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Just to add that we do have an audio presentation you can listen to in
order to get a better understanding of how it all works. Here's a blurb:

CakeTalking customizes the JAWS for Windows screen reader so blind
users can access the SONAR software that so many sighted people use to
convert their PC’s into recording studios. And CakeTalking tops it all
off with a set of detailed tutorials in the form of electronic
documents of hundreds of pages that instruct the JAWS user on all the
“how to’s”. Using CakeTalking with JAWS, blind musicians can focus
their energy on creating, not trouble-shooting!

Bryan Smart, Dancing Dots' training specialist, blind audio producer
and CakeTalking enthusiast, puts SONAR through its paces. In a
detailed but fast-moving audio presentation, Bryan covers a whole lot:
basic operations of SONAR, the track view, mixing, showing effects and
how to edit your music with CakeTalking, mixing with a control surface
like the Behringer BCF2000, recording a simple project using software
synthesizers, demonstrating the Matrix view, and demonstrating some
basic editing features like cut/copy/paste, quantize, transpose, and
interpolate. He also briefly touches on SONAR's AudioSnap facility.
The entire demo is about an hour and
45 minutes long but it is designed to present the basic operations in
the first 20 minutes or so.

Sonar is a multi-track recording and editing package for working with
MIDI and audio.
CakeTalking is a set of Jaws scripts to make Sonar accessible, along
with a 400-page tutorial.

Let me ask this.. would either one of those programs work to enhance
or compliment Sound Forge?
Or, do the two work together and can not be used separately?
Maybe more basis question: What is primary function of Sonar?
What is primary function of CakeTalking?
