Hi Floyd.

Really, the only reason I suggested building your own de-esser with EQ and side-chain compression is so you understand what a de-esser does and how it works. It's a useful exercise. Of course, if you come up with one you particularly like, be sure to save it as a track template to pull up later.

If you try the one built into VC64 or maybe it's VX64 and don't care for it, Waves make the Renaissance De-Esser, Plugin Alliance sell the SPL De-esser which is really simple. I believe Fab Filter make one.

About the only thing to be careful of is pushing a De-esser too hard, which makes the singer sound like they are lisping.

Awesome Chris,

So I've been using 8.851 for 2 or 3 months from 8.0 and didn't
realize we had access to
the Sonitus compressor sidechain. Just hadn't gotten there yet.
I'll indeed use it.

thanks very much,
Floyd...
