Hi Chelsea,

When I first purchased Sonar, Cake Talking, some extra software and the dedicated lap top. I was so engulfed with how much info there was to understand that I put the lot in a cupboard and didn't even attempt to look at it for over 18 Months.

It was Darren from this list that eventually encouraged me to open the cupboard door.

I'd been using hardware systems for many years but the vast amount of new technology info to learn was scaring me.

What I'm trying to say is HSC and the likes is not important right now. If you are interested in recording, you just need Sonar and Caketalking as that alone will give you amazing results. The tutorial that comes with Caketalking scrips is brilliant, worth the Money just for the info on how Sonar works alone. I had hardly any understanding of computers yet could read these scrips and make sense of them.

Once you understand how they work then think about adding HSC scrip's and other plugins to your system.

Don't start off looking at the deep end or else you may never jump in. go to the shallow end and you'll be fine.

I've been to Sound on Sound's site and got their glossary. That
helped--sort of.

I did a search for the book you recommended by the way. The Library of Congress doesn't have it. Neither does RFB or Bookshare.

Sounds...interesting. Need to figure out all these terms.

yes well, CakeTalking will help with that, along with any good book
on audio, recording, mixing etc. Tons of articles online as well.
There are magazines too, like Mix, Sound on Sound, the Tape OP
Newsletter etc.
