Hi Steve, Thanks for your advice! Unfortunately, I have a habbit of going for broke when I get into something I'm interested in. I've discovered that the job title for what I want to do is mix engineer. But I wouldn't say no to doing some recording/djing on the side in the realms of trance/Christian/80s music. I don't have any equipment yet, just my Pac Mate. I don't even know when I'll get it, if at all. I need to buiild up a case for BVR first to justify why they should buy me the equipment in the first place, hence my joining of this list to learn as much as I can before I take any plans/ideas to my counselor. I was so engulfed with how much info there was to understand that I put the lot in a cupboard and didn't even attempt to look at it for over 18 Months. It was Darren from this list that eventually encouraged me to open the cupboard door. I'd been using hardware systems for many years but the vast amount of new technology info to learn was scaring me. What I'm trying to say is HSC and the likes is not important right now. If you are interested in recording, you just need Sonar and Caketalking as that alone will give you amazing results. The tutorial that comes with Caketalking scrips is brilliant, worth the Money just for the info on how Sonar works alone. I had hardly any understanding of computers yet could read these scrips and make sense of them. Once you understand how they work then think about adding HSC scrip's and other plugins to your system. Don't start off looking at the deep end or else you may never jump in. go to the shallow end and you'll be fine. That helped--sort of. I did a search for the book you recommended by the way. The Library of Congress doesn't have it. Neither does RFB or Bookshare. Need to figure out all these terms. yes well, CakeTalking will help with that, along with any good book on audio, recording, mixing etc. Tons of articles online as well. There are magazines too, like Mix, Sound on Sound, the Tape OP Newsletter etc. Chris PLEASE READ THIS FOOTER AT LEAST ONCE!
