How up to date are those reviews? Focusrite updates their mixControl (for
the saffire series) a few times a year. They are usually quick about putting
up fixes for customer submited issues in the form of beta drivers before
they test and release to the public, but the driver stability is good. But
Roland might also have good drivers, in fact, Gord's Email states they do,
so that's a review from an active user. I can only speak for the interface
and drivers I use, otherwise I might be missinforming you lol. I'm not
saying that Roland drivers succk, or that Focusrite or anybody else is
better, just causioning you to look at all those parts of the interface, and
be sure that the reviews are up to date and reliable. There's unfortunately
a bit of bias or myths on sites, so be sure they're reliable. Don't take the
description of any site that sells the product too seriously, specially if
they just copy and paste the manufacturer descriptions/info on there; look
for actual hands-on reviews and descriptions if available.
I'm sure you've probably found some already, since the Roland capture is a
popular line of interfaces, mainly due to it's link to Cakewalk a few years
ago. You'll probably now see Tascam get that piece of the pie now that
they're working together, they're supposedly going to have some new stuff to
show this summer.

Hello,
From what I've read, Roland driver support is fantastic where as Focusrite
doesn't have such good support. Currently Focusrite has a working USB
driver, but they are slow apparently.
On the user reviews on different websites, the Roland seems to have between
4.5 and 5.0 user ratings, that is pretty high, spread out through several
different websites. The only downside to the Roland is the price and the in
ability to control the output volume to the speakers separate from the
headphones.
I don't ever use speakers except when listening to make sure the sound
sounds good on a different output type.
The Focusrite scarlet line (2i2 is what I was looking at), has the best
hardware ever and some of the more lower quality drivers.
I'm still looking, but Roland seems to be taking the pries here...
thanks,
